Have you noticed that you are only seeing updates in your newsfeed from the same people lately? Have you also noticed that when you post things like status messages, photos and links, the same circle of people are commenting and everyone else seems to be ignoring you?

Don't worry, everyone still loves you and nobody has intentionally blocked you. The problem is that a large chunk of your friend/fan list can't see anything you post and here's why:

The "New Facebook" has a newsfeed setting that by default is automatically set to show ONLY posts from people who you've recently interacted with or interacted the most with (which would be limited to the couple of weeks just before people started switching to the new profile). So in other words, for both business and personal pages, unless your friends/fans commented on one of your posts within those few weeks or vice versa - you are now invisible to them and they are invisible to you!!

HERE'S THE FIX: On the homepage click the "Most Recent" title on the right of the Newsfeed, then click on the drop down arrow beside it and select "Edit Options", click on "Show Posts From" and change the setting to "All Of Your Friends and Pages" (you can also access the "Edit Options" link at the very bottom of the facebook homepage on the right)
Note: Business pages do not have a newsfeed however page owners should adjust the settings on their personal accounts.

The good news is: now you can now view all of your friends and fans again. The bad news is: YOU ARE STILL INVISIBLE to a large portion of your list. You must get the word out to ALL of your friends and fans by inviting them to this event or creating one of your own so they can read the post and adjust their settings. To invite your friends: Click on "Attending" at the top and then you will see an option to invite your friends under the smiley face. It’s public so everyone who logs onto facebook can view it and even the friends who can’t see your posts WILL see the event invitation. You can also tweet about it, create a blog post or send out an email to your subscribers in hopes of reaching them all. Do schools kill creativity? If creativity was a person schools would be it's concentration camp! I Love it because it allows me the flexibility to decide which of my twitter Accounts that I want to Tweet from... as well as gives me the option to also Tweet into my Facebook profile and Pages that I have created... as well as the ability to Tweet into other social networks that I am a member of!

The greatest environmental disaster that has ever occurred to the U.S. is looming a few miles Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. If you look at the satellite photos of the Gulf today you’ll see an enormous portion of the Gulf is already covered in oil. Given the amount of oil already spilled and the undetermined amount of oil still flowing up from a mile under the sea, it is impossible for the upper areas of the Gulf of Mexico to survive as we know it. Also, the financial fallout from millions of citizens that depend on the tourism and seafood industries could trigger another round of foreclosures, bankruptcies and even another recession.

BUT, there is one simple and natural solution. “Oil Eating Microbes”.

Microbes occur in nature (in fact humans have over a pound of microbes in their bodies) and each type of microbe is programmed to do certain tasks. Some decompose plant matter, others help break down toxins. In the last 20 years scientists have been able to find and ‘harvest’ these naturally occurring oil-eating microbes from around the world and increase their reproduction cycle so that trillions are now available to help us!

These microbes are commercially available and have been tested successful on large oil spills around the world. These microbes can be supplied immediately in large enough quantities to ‘bioremediate’ the oil that is now washing up on the beaches and in the marshes of the Gulf Coast. The microbes are simply mixed with water and sprayed on the oil as it reaches the calmer waters near shore or on shore itself. Once applied to the oil, the microbes eat it—leaving a natural waste product that is harmless to marine life. Their waste is non-toxic and can actually be beneficial to the plants and sea creatures that feed on it.

The process to completely clean an area of oil is dependent on a few things—but it can usually be accomplished in just a few weeks—not years. If we can adopt this solution immediately, we have a chance to save the Gulf—if we wait, we’ll just be cleaning up corpses of our precious wildlife and bailing out millions of individuals and businesses again.

HST… Please Leave Here …

Today I had the privilege of paying my property taxes. (I call it a privilege because, I have a house to live in, roads to drive on and first class snow removal services… if I did not have property taxes to pay, it would mean that I lived in a Van down by the river.. so for that reason I am glad to pay them.) While I was at the town office waiting for my debit card to be rung through, I glanced over at a stack of papers that were sitting on the counter.

Written on the top in pen and then highlighted in pink, read the words, “HST, please leave here.” As I was looking for the place to write my signature, I laughed when I finally clued in! The clerk saw me looking at the papers and said that it was a print out of all of the regulations regarding the new Harmonized Sales Tax (HST.) Apparently, many people have been looking at the paperwork and asking if they could take a copy home to read up on it. {It was not a petition like I had thought.} He said that was the ‘office’ copy and that it needed to be left there for others to read. I pointed out the humor in the hand written wording; he chuckled because it had previously gone unnoticed. “HST, please leave here.”

Apparently 700,000 others feel the same way as the subliminal message on the town offices regulation sheet… there was recently a petition sent to Ottawa to try and get the HST overturned. Even though another member of my house looks at the tax as a simplified paper trail, I see it as a great way to give away even more interest to the federal government and also create a plethora of jobs on the other side of the country. I don’t like being pessimistic but, will this be as pricey in the long run as the ever so unpopular ‘gun registry?’ [See http://www.thestar.com/article/274955 for more on that... ]

Alberta has it right when they say.. “Less Ottawa more Alberta!” Doesn’t BC mean Bring Cash… not Give it away? Just saying, perhaps we need to start standing up for the people that live here, by creating abundance rather than giving people another reason to leave. Let’s stop getting in our own way, instead of making decisions that will benefit others at the expense of the people who live here.

***Just a thought, what if we simplified PST… by making it a smaller flat tax, no exemptions… that way it could be like 1 or 2% … small, simple and when you do that math, the numbers will blow your mind and balk up the coffers…. Provincially. More bang for OUR buck and WE don’t need a MBA .. or MAcc – [Master of Accountancy] to figure things out.

Business Lessons from Momma!

The very best thing that I can do for you today is share with you one of the greatest gifts that I have been given! That is my friend Deremiah *CPE. He is one of my greatest teachers and one of my favorite blessings. (I have spent hours on the phone with him and had the true privilege of interviewing him a handful of times on my radio shows. )

Today with tears in my eyes, I am so honored to share him with you … give yourself a gift and listen to him on another radio show that he was just on as he shares the amazing Business lessons that his Momma taught him!

You will learn outstanding gems that his Momma taught him like this… “If once a task you have begun, never quite until it is done… be the labor big or small, do it well or not at all!”

Celebrate your Life and the amazing people/things that surround you! I promise you this… This radio interview is the most inspired thing that I have ever shared with you!

I am sitting here, listening to his latest radio show... with tears in my eyes I find myself more humbled by the Inspiration that is Deremiah Cpe ! He continues to teach me so much, words will never be big enough to share the gratitude that I have for dear friend Deremiah *CPE! Facebook ...Simplified

In case you did not know, the way that facebook works is when you are a member of a group / page the program automatically feeds posts back to your news feed wall.... so any information that people post will show up on your wall, unless you UN-Join the group / page it will keep doing it. If you are not happy receiving group messages, the way to stop receiving them is to un-join the group. Not that I want you to leave any of our groups... but I do want to be helpful!

The same thing happens with Friend Requests ...the moment that you send a request, if the persons Privacy settings are not on LockDown, You will start to see their posts appearing on your wall. (It is built into the program, it is not because people are sending you everything that they do online...it is a program feed that pulls the most popular things (based on people clicking like) as well as the most recent posts.

When I spoke with an old friend of mine that I had not spoken to in awhile, he called me a spammer.... it was simply because he did not know how Facebook's auto feed program worked, once I explained it, he apologized and understood. I was not me, it was the program...so if you have friends who share lots, it is likely that Your Facebook is covered with posts by them... if you share lots, keep in mind that you are probably covering your fiends news feeds.

(Lack of knowledge and a persons Perspective can create misunderstandings ...so do take some time to learn the program before RE-Acting ... when you are educated you can come from a place of understanding.)

Think about your Facebook Goals... when you are there to uplift and motivate others, it can make a real difference to your own experiences. Instead of meeting people by making them go directly to your website...focus on them... otherwise it is like trying to sleep with someone on a first date ...or french kissing a stranger before you even know their name. Be the same genuine person that you are offline , online... you will go much further and be of real Value to your online world!

Mining Perspective

Several years ago, when I was working for a Gold & Silver exploration company I had the great opportunity to travel to the ‘hands on’ portion of the company in the little community of Stewart BC. I had worked for the company for about a year in Marketing. It was my responsibility to attend all of the investment trade shows and promote the company stock. Don’t kid yourself, it was hard work attending these shows… because of what it took for us to be unsurpassed and best represented at all of the shows that we attended.

We would arrive at least an hour or two before anyone of the other attendees to begin the set up of our video wall and always left an hour or so after everyone else as well. Nine huge monitors on a metal frame, cases of videos, a heavy hard drive to run it….and a computer backup. It was flashy, impressive and a far cry from the wrinkled maps taped to the backdrops of our neighboring companies.

The rise from $.90 cents to $2.65 was an exciting and fast paced climb. Encase you are keeping track, that was a $110,000,000 market cap! Yes things were going good. Raising money was easy…raising big money was easier! With a great story, good properties and a management team that appeared to be able to take the company into production, everything seemed to be going well.

My schedule was hectic to say the least… but I was loving what I did. I believed in the product, and I was most successful in sharing the vision with amazing people with deep pockets. Countless trips to Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto, then Chicago, New Orleans, and NYC; I enjoyed the travel, but my favorite thing was meeting the new people and hearing about their experiences. I still remain friends with some of the top analysts & investors in the world.

I was of the understanding because of my perspective… that marketing was the most important part of the company… that childish belief soon changed when I had the opportunity to put on my boots on the ground and embrace the possibility from a hands on perspective. The entire marketing department (all 3 of us) flew to northern BC to help out the field crew and see firsthand what it was that we were promoting. My eyes were opened with understanding when we flew to the mountain property in the helicopter.

Seeing with my own eyes, where all of the “flow through” money was being spent helped me to understand how when the field crew did their job successfully and efficiently ... it made my job easier. I cut meters and meters of core, hiked the amazing glaciers and was filthy from head to toe when I bailed out the gray water to make the showers work better for all of the hard working people on site. With dirt under my beautiful nails, I jumped in and did everything that I could to help out, so that we could wrap up the drill season before the snow began to fall. I even rigged helicopter loads and gave tours to potential investors and an analyst friend of mine who popped by to write us up. (Popping by means a lot there… because the only way to drop in..was by Helicopter!)

When I was not riding in helicopters or sleeping in a tent on the side of the mountain, I was flown out to the closest community of Stewart BC. Stewart is a gold town gone bust… because of the narrow focus and rigged ways of understanding. Many years earlier in Canada’s most northerly ice free port of Stewart, cruise ships were met by picketers in an angry mob… because instead of having the perspective of OPPORTUNITY…they saw invaders. Times were changing, for the locals of Stewart! They had the choice to embrace the change…and positively make loads of money on tourism or hold firm to their limiting beliefs that ‘outsiders’ would infect the community. Even the breath taking scenery was not enough to captivate the cruise line company…when faced with the local mob. So the cruise ships …and opportunity sailed back out to the Ocean of possibilities.

Despite efforts disease did set in and almost killed the small town of Stewart. Since their belief was so narrow minded and limiting, they missed out on an amazing opportunity. Stewart became a near ghost town, because of the death grip that the locals had on themselves.

Change is always constant… the more WE resist… the more it persists. With our consent or not… change is inevitable. With this in mind, would it not be much more effective to focus and direct the change… instead of it becoming a victim to it? Why not have the attitude of embracing the possibility to guide and support the change in a positive manner that will benefit all parties…rather than being steam rolled by change that is coming anyways.

Our Valley, is on the verge of tremendous opportunities. The magnitude of these opportunities has the possibility to be guided and supported by the Valley. So weather you have the perspective of the “Damn Invaders” are coming in taking over our community…. or one of Opportunity and potential to make loads of money ‘Serving your way to Success’… is really up to you.

My perspective is one of excitement and possibilities. It is my choice how I perceive, receive and respond… it is also up to me to determine what “Opinion” I listen to! Throughout history, there has always been countless numbers of people who choose to criticize and give limitless reasons why an idea, event, or business will not succeed… however, it is those people who decided to do it anyways and succeeded that I choose to listen to. It is in the focus on how to win a race that the driver crosses the finish line… not on focusing on the reasons why wining is not possible. It is easy to sit back and criticize, however it takes courage, skill and passion to stand up and create solutions.

Excellence... what is that?

Robin Sharma calls it "Leadership without Title," others call it Personal Statesmanship... but no matter what Title you give it, it is vital to not only your personal success but the success of others.

We need to look at things from other perspectives even if at first we do not agree with them. When we learn from others perspectives and shed a light on the truth in them... we can ask ourselves:

Is there any truth behind the perspective?
Have I taken a good hard look at what other people believe and why...

When we not only know what we believe but also know what other people believe and why they believe it, it helps us to truly understand their view point and the situation as a whole. From there, you can believe what you want... our world views are primarily made up of our Culture, our Family and our Friends...

True Leaders understand & are respectful to being open to learning Truth no matter what form it arrives in...l while remembering what they Stand for. Than use these Truths in the others view point and openly understand and learn from the others perspective.

No matter what time, no matter what is happening on the surface, true leaders identify the problems ...look at society as it is and how it should be and then they bridge the gap to facilitate that change. They are solution providers and stand strong in the resolution of change.

What do YOU stand for?

Buddha said, " Your mission in life is to find your mission in life... and then give your whole heart and soul to it."

I ask you to bravely step forward in the absence of knowing... and stand for what YOU believe in once YOU understand where those beliefs came from. Remember to understand your view point, you must go to the source of where it was formed. Open your mind to the things that you have never understood and find the truth in it... releasing your own limiting beliefs is key!

Great Leaders not only invest time and effort into their own learning but they also look around them and inspire others to become leaders as well. Leadership is a sport best played... Together.

The smash hit movie the "Secret" did a great job to open up the dialogue about the Law of Attraction and the possibilities that it can create. However, it left a lot of us asking more questions than it answered.

~Is it really as simple as wishing for something?

~Did I really attract this illness to me?

~Is it all about what I can get or can WE use the LOA to help on a global scale?

~I see other people applying the teachings of the "Secret" in their lives and it seems to be working great for them...why won't it work for me?

Travesty at the Airports !

As someone who fly’s more than average, I was very disappointed to learn about the latest airline idiot who has created even more Fear and panic than there ever needed to be when it comes to flying. It is not that I am anti safety measures, nor am I someone who lives in a bubble, it is just that I feel that we the majority (people who fly should have human rights, respect and humility) when we walk through the rouse of “sovereign” nation of the international airport.

What is it going to take before people say…enough is enough! Stop wasting money on treating the symptom and let’s start considering curing the causes. These band-aid solutions are not going to keep working for too much longer before people get wise to the “swindle” taking place right before our eyes. What if instead of spending more money to hire people to scavenger through the underwear in my carry on …we start looking outside the airport to once and for all correct the problems. Outside, like the other 750 redundant levels of government bureaucracy that was set up to police the suspected terrorists in the first place. “I am sure that these systems of government run almost as effectively as every other level of government” I say extremely sarcastically ..(with the exception of the tax department blood hounds.) That is why it gets a lot more press announcing changes at the airport rather than the pulling up the governments’ socks and communication skills between departments.

It was all a magic trick pulled on not only the nation but also the world by broadcasting no more liquids over 100ml. Magicians use diversionary tactics in order to successfully pull off a trick. This diversion involved participation by every single audience member…we the flyer's, all of the sudden the government is doing something! Outstanding…but wait, hold on a second, what has this accomplished? Countless hours of lost time, billions of government (our $) debt spending, and loads of money spent on site at the airport by bilking customers that now have to get their liquid fix behind the gates.

So before everyone is subject to pre-flight enemas, can we have some changes in the places that really could make a difference? In the agencies that were set up to combat it all from happening. Why didn’t anyone listen (this time) when President Obama hit the nail on the head by publicly announcing that the “SYSTEM failed! “ He said the system failed… that mean’s the PEOPLE, the conversation and the practices failed! So, instead of firing the cafeteria lunch lady because the cow never produced milk…. (I know it doesn’t make any sense.) What if we were to address the real problem, fix it and carry on…instead of continuing to live in the anti-democracy that we have now, where the few dictate to the many?

Think about this for a second, “Your chances of being involved in an aircraft accident are about 1 in 11 million. On the other hand, your chances of being killed in an automobile accident are 1 in 5000.”

Let’s address the ridiculous overlap of government fractions and start streamlining, simplify and fix what is not working. Focus on conversation, communication and restoring the dignity of the frequent flyer. Think about how much safer it would be if the right hand knew what the left hand was doing… but that would mean intelligence sharing and to do that, it would take some intelligence to start with. Let’s get it together!

I am on my way to the airport on Saturday, the nice thing is that it is a smaller airport so the lines etc, will not be a problem. Paying for luggage… I can handle, no carryon… is not great but let’s do something before the smaller airports have to do naked pat downs because they can’t justify the multi-million dollar expense for the transparent body scan machine. PLEASE!

The Sovereign Man

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of interviewing one of my favorite people. Simon Black is a world traveler and international investor. He spends his days with boots on the ground checking out the fundamentals and more of global business opportunities. Every day he sends out his newsletter called the Notes from the Field. In his letter you will find priceless information from investing to travel tips and everything in between.

Before branching out on his own, Simon wrote a newsletter (Beyond Borders) for his good friend Doug Casey. Learning first hand from under the wing of the investing "Guru" himself, Simon was a quick study and became very successful and honed his skills in not only investing but also relationship building. His personality, experience and mystery have gained him access into many closed door meetings with some of the world's biggest players.
Meet Simon, in his own words:

"Simon Black has never been a conformist. Home schooled in
his early years by his European mother who spoke six languages and had an
accounting degree, Simon spent a significant portion of his formative
learning years sandwiched between romance languages and balance sheets. It
turns out that both would come in handy.

As far back as he could trace, his ancestors had been
staunchly independent- a pair of Italian bakers, an English explorer, a
Texas farmer, a small town real estate mogul, and a Chickasaw Indian hunter.
Self-reliance, freedom, and opportunism flowed through his veins, along with
a healthy distaste for convention.

By the time he reached high school, Simon was already
working the system to his favor, devising innovative schemes to put deals
together and make money... some of which occasionally landed him in the
custody of school administrators or the local police. As such, it was a
surprise to everyone when Simon successfully sought an appointment to the US
Military Academy at West Point. Everyone thought he would fail, and he was
determined to prove them wrong.

While at West Point, Simon excelled academically and
athletically, yet struggled with the regimentation of military life. And
though he never quite figured out how to shine his shoes properly, it was
during this time in his life that he harnessed his financial background and
began investing in the market.

Graduating near the top of his class, he opted for the
counter-culture lifestyle of an intelligence officer, and for the next
several years lived two lives-one of an entrepreneur and investor, the other
as an American intelligence officer in the Middle East and elsewhere.
During his military service and throughout multiple deployments, Simon
managed to start several businesses, including a real estate holding company
that exploited a little known government program that provided substantial,
guaranteed payments to landlords.

Happily enriched, idealistic, and patriotic, Simon
enthusiastically performed his duties with the honest opinion that he was
contributing to national defense... until the windup to the Iraq invasion.
He remembers vividly how US politicians made the case for Saddam's
nonexistent nuclear arsenal, and his idealism instantly tumbled.
Ironically, around the same time, Simon discovered the writings of HL
Mencken, Ayn Rand, and his future friend and mentor, Doug Casey.

Simon found an intellectual and philosophical home in the
common sense, anarcho-libertarian ideals espoused by these authors. And
though his life as an intelligence officer deployed overseas had been
thrilling to say the least, it was a misguided career in the service of
corrupt bureaucrats.

Simon left the military almost immediately, sold his US
assets, and began a long financial and philosophical journey that has taken
him to nearly 100 countries on 6 continents. Along the way he has
participated in dozens of interesting, profitable deals and become
associated with a unique cast of characters that includes heads of state,
billionaire investors, former mercenaries, celebrities, arms dealers, CEOs,
drug traffickers, NGO fat cats, as well as legions of bankers, brokers, and
lawyers."

Simon has created his life to be one of abundance in all areas. No matter where on earth he may be, you can bet that Simon has access through his network of connections. Offering value where ever he goes, he is defiantly one investor that you do want to have a part of your business venture...and not merely for his financial contribution but also his vase understanding of
the Global business world.

Be it China, Panama, Venezuela, Germany, Argentina or pretty much anywhere, Simon has built strong relationship with the top lawyers, bankers and government agents. Since these are usually the ones with their finger on the pulse of the business culture, they are who Simon spends most of his time with... that is when he is not in the gym. He is extremely self disciplined, self motivated and self reliant. However, "Despite any measure of success, Simon's ethos is not about money; it's about freedom."

Climbing the Mountain to Reach my Goals...

A couple of days ago, I had the privilege of accomplishing one of my first summer goals... climbing to the very top of the mountain that I have looked at every morning out my office window since September when I moved here. I am sure that on the grand scale it would be considered a small mountain; however after hibernating all winter behind a nice warm keyboard, it was a monumental task to say the least. My husband and I set out on our trek early on the bright sunny Sunday morning. Fashionably dressed in tank top, shorts and hiking boots, I was grateful to head out of site and into the woods. Even though the day prior I had hiked ¼ the way up the same mountain, with a couple of my children, I was determined to see where the rest of the trail would lead us. Since that part of our journey was 95% straight uphill… we decided it would be best to leave the children home. As Brad and I made it to the point where I had ended the day before, I could not help but feel my body disagree with my current decision to go further. My back started to hurt and my feet felt every degree of incline in our progress up the path to the top of the timbers. Even with spotting a couple of locations where Bears no longer lingered, we kept going…until, my husband said, “Stop.” In fear I ran closer to him wondering if he might have to use the can of bear spray on his hip, all the while thinking about the jokes of how its true purpose was to ‘pepper the meat’ before the bears had their dinner and that bear bells were really just ‘dinner bells.’ My husband very carefully leaned over and moved some ferns from their resting place onside of the mountain. As I was about to ask him what the heck he was looking at, he said, “I don’t believe it!” I was expecting the worst when he pointed to… a frog! A frog ½ way up the side of the mountain with no visible water around. Once my head slowed back to pre-bear-attack thinking, I was able to be shocked as well. Beyond all reason, there should be no water needing creatures in sight let alone a Frog!

Since my mind works in symbols and analogies, I could not help but compare my mountain climbing adventure to that of the adventure of creating Stock Harmony. The mountain that we are on… is the world markets, current business ethics & practices. Every piece of deadfall and root blocking the trail…are the obstacles that we have had to overcome to get to this point in our climb to launch Stock Harmony. The beautiful flowers and foliage along the way… are our friends who are offering kind advice and encouragement. The massive fallen trees that were now visibly becoming one with the earth… symbolized the corporations that once stood mighty and proud, only to be blown over by winds because their values (roots) were not strong enough to hold them in this economy. The bear droppings & stinging nettle… well, you guess that one… The 95% slope that we are climbing to get to the top is the hard work and dedication that it will take in order to achieve our intention. Two hours, two sunburns, sore knees, scraps, stings and uphill perseverance later, we were standing at the very top ridge of our mountain overlooking the entire valley and our house. Even though my body was not happy for the majority of our trip, I was extremely grateful that I did not give in…and I achieved what we set out to do.

Now I can look out my window every morning and think to myself, I did it, I made it to the very top! (of this peak)As I sat there in the moment, in wonder of our accomplishment, I took in the majesty around me and again reflected. …even though, we have climbed to the summit and pre-launched Stock Harmony, as I look around, there are even higher mountains to climb…but this trip has helped given me the prospective and strength that I will need, when I climb the other mountains that are waiting for us to get to the top of them as well.

The journey home helped me appreciate the other 5%..the 5% that had now become, my new uphill. Everything, which was previously uphill, had now become my downhill… and now my knees screamed at me every step of the way. Even though we saw that a bear had crossed our trail we thankfully never did cross his path! We made it home safely even after we misplaced the trail and got to climb over hectares of deadfall. (We even saw another frog!) This just helped reassure me that I was not in spry enough shape but it was also a good idea to withdraw my nomination to be on the television show ‘Man Tracker.’

As I gaze out my window this morning looking at the mountains before me, I am not only thankful for the obstacles in my life to that I have had climb up to this point…but for the ones that are yet to come… because I know that I CAN…and so can YOU!

Business, Social Media and YOU!

This morning as I opened the dental floss I was surprised to see on the package something written about how this brand is 40% better than some other brand. I know there is a lot of choice in the floss industry but is putting down someone else’s product really the way to operate your own business? I would say… gone are those days, where we had to step on someone else’s head in order to step up in the world.

It reminded me of all of the political ads that I dislike so much. You know the ones where one party digs into the past of the other party’s candidate…something like this. (Read this in deep voice,) when Joe Black was 4 years old..he pulled his sister’s hair! When he was 8 Joe Black got a spanking for taking gum from his mother’s purse without asking. At the age of 12 he was still afraid of the DARK! Is this the man that YOU want running the country? I should THINK NOT!"

I mean really… at one time in my life…I wore diapers…but I grew out of that at some point in time. It is time that companies and politics…do the same.

Web 2.0 is a wonderful example of the future of business…and how the smart companies are already evolving to the mindset of Win, Win, Win. Yes I said Win three times! The first two are obvious; you know, win for YOU, win for Me and Win for the Environment. Using the 2.0 concept, of what can our contribution be…rather than what can I spam you with in hopes that you will buy my product, we are building the future to be one of service, gratitude and encouragement. Companies who in the past were in competition with each other are now working TOGETHER to really make a difference, for their employees, customers and others.

Take for example, our electrical company. Traditionally we would only be able to bid jobs that were set to begin when another job had wraped up. Due to not having enough employees to get the job done. Or if we had to wait for another job to start, we might have to lay people off for awhile until we had more work. That is typically how things used to work… however since our company started we have worked together with other electrical companies, to share the work. Yes Share! What I mean by this is, when we are looking at bidding a job, and our employees are busy working on another job, we barrow employees from another like company. This helps us because we are then able to do the work that we might not have been able to do because of limited employee’s. We also don’t have to do any paper work for the borrowed employees, because they stay on the payroll of the other company. We pay their company a small commission for the use of their people. And they don’t have to lay off people because of lack of work.

We also work together when those companies are bidding other jobs that we don’t need, so we will submit a higher bid when they are bidding so that the general contractor has met his quota of incoming bids for a job. So… we want our “competition” to do well…and be successful in their business because it allows us to continue to also be successful.

Twitter and Facebook have allowed everyone of us to be able to work together in service and success. When you are on Twitter and you ReTweet (RT) another person’s status, link etc. you are building them up by highlighting them to your own network of followers. Likewise on Facebook when you “share” or “Like” another persons submission, you are helping your friends photo, story, video, link, or tag line gain popularity helping them spread the message they are sharing with YOU. I think that a facebook/ twitter friend of mine @JosephRanseth said it best, “As you seek to elevate yourself… elevate others! As we seek to elevate others…the work itself will elevate us!”

By highlighting the amazing contributions of others, and by adding quality to all that you do, YOU build the ‘trust’, ‘transparency’ and ‘openness’ that has been missing from business in the past. Friends make great customers! So remember, we don’t ‘Spam’ friends… we build up the friendship’s by contributing…and by working on building the friendship. Like @CoachDawn calls it, “Friendship Spam’” is when you just add and add and add friends…without adding a personal note as to why you would like to be friends. I also think that #FollowFridays are turning into the same thing. Why note Say something like, “ @TrafficGen is a great person to #FF b/c he is sooo funny! He will brighten ur day.” Or, “I love the wisdom of this man @LFTS, wonderful #followfriday.” How about “ I love this lady, I know YOU will too @kendrathornbury #FF” or “ @alexkaris has a lot of friends for a reason! He is a great #FF.” How about, "@VividLife ~YOUR Ultimate Life Resource#FF" or “ For all things Peace, you need to follow be #FF @LynneONE4PEACE you will thank me!” OK, I am sure that you have enough examples by now…lol.

Be interested instead of trying to be interesting! That will make all of the difference in not only your online success but also your overall success in life.
